Accommodation for students in UK

Accommodations for Students in UK

Finding a comfortable & affordable place in a foreign land is a task on its own. You need to have timely research & action if you settle on everything perfect, whether its location, price, and trusted flatmates.

If you haven’t started on this part yet, here is an overview of the accommodation options you will find while studying in the UK & help you simplify your planning process. There are two ways you can get accommodation: University or Private Accommodations.

On-Campus Accommodation

Most UK universities provide accommodation to students, which they rent out known as Student halls or Halls of residence. First-year students generally prefer these kinds of accommodations. These halls are located on the campus and come with many facilities. There are plenty of room types available, such as single room, double room, deluxe room, which you can choose depending on your budget. You may also find numerous options available in these halls like shared bathrooms or ensuite, catered meals, or self-catered accommodation. Self-catering flats come with separate units with fully equipped kitchens and private living spaces/bathrooms. These can be slightly expensive but offer you more privacy. Some halls may also be reserved solely for post-graduate degree students.

Note that universities do not automatically offer students accommodation. If you want to opt for on-campus accommodations, you need to inform your respective university about the same. Once you get accepted into the program, start early with the application process, as the places fill up very quickly. As an international student, you may also get housing priority.

Private accommodations

If you are looking to rent a private place, there are several options for this too. You can find an apartment through an estate agent or private landlord, or friends who are already living in the UK. The cost of private housing will hugely depend on the location, size & how many students are going to share it. Additionally, renting a private flat also means catering to a lot of things before one can call it a home away from home, like location, size, price, etc.

For many students, living in a foreign country on their own is always an exciting experience! We want your experience to be worth remembering.
